Key Experiences

Mechanical Engineering Research Assistant

MELBOURNE SPACE LAB (MSL)

At the Melbourne Space Lab, I designed a model replica of the SPIRIT Nano 6U SSO satellite for a commercial museum display. I created high-fidelity models of burn-wire deployable solar arrays, THeMis radiators, UHF antennae, and payload management systems. This included bespoke mounts for HERMES X-Ray instruments, Mercury Iridium antenna, S-Band patch antenna, and the Neumann Ion Propulsion Thruster. This project taught me to blend technical design with aesthetic precision while respecting IP requirements, showcasing my autonomy and ability to manage complex tasks independently under significant time pressure.

Graduate Mechanical Engineer

ONVOL PTY LTD

At ONVOL, I contributed to designing and improving energy harvester products, deploying over 200 units for sustainable energy generation in wind farms. I developed complex gear transmissions, brushless generators, and piezoelectric harvesters, creating an accurate FEA static study of a Piezoelectric Biomorph Substrate. I implemented the Poka Yoke philosophy to reduce assembly errors and optimized procurement intervals from foreign manufacturers, maintaining a Just-In-Time Pull System. Additionally, I prepared comprehensive assembly reports for new products, complete with detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.

Engineering Manager & Chassis Team Lead

UNIMELB ROVER TEAM (URT)

In my 3 years in URT, we achieved consecutive 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the Australian Rover Challenge. I secured Polymaker as an in-kind sponsor, eliminating teamwide out-of-pocket costs for 3D-printing filament, and coordinated the production of components worth up to 60,000 AUD. I spearheaded the design of a 20% lighter, more compact chassis for future competitions, reducing 3D-printed parts for silicone casting by 50% and improving lead times by 90%. I also implemented efficient modular mounting, improving subsystem attachment/removal time by 80%, and initiated teamwide training on CAD, simulations, and manufacturing practices.
